Horses, helicopters and cars – not an obvious combination, but something quite common around Somerset and Wytch Wood Camping. These industries are situated just over the hill from Wytch Wood and are a short drive or reasonable walk away.
Chard Equestrian Somerset
Chard Equestrian is a huge equestrian competition venue, regularly hosting some of the top UK and international riders, as well as lots of grassroots events.
They hold dressage competitions, show jumping and eventing throughout the year and there will more than likely be competitions going on during your visit. There is a large indoor viewing area with a cafe so you can watch the competition in comfort.
Check out their events calendar to see what’s on during your stay.
Historic Helicopters in Somerset
Some of the oldest flying helicopters in the world are based at Historic Helicopters and you will almost certainly see some of them out flying during your stay. Historic Helicopters was established in 2013 to preserve, restore and operate a select fleet of vintage Military Helicopters.
They hold occasional open days and air shows, so it’s worth checking out if there is anything on when you stay. Sometimes you can get shown around the hangar, so it’s worth asking if you visit.
