Wytch Wood Camping & Glamping in Somerset is privately owned and managed and is proud to provide some of the most environmentally friendly, low-impact, recreational camping experiences.
Wytch Wood Campsite aims to have as little impact on the environment as possible.
You’ll be drinking cool, clear spring water (safely filtered, of course) from one of the uppermost tributaries of the River Axe. Eight compost loos are positioned around the site, and guests can enjoy the use of the three hot showers and the washing-up stations.
Bio washing up liquid, soaps, and shampoos will be supplied along with comprehensive recycling facilities.
When small, quiet campsites in great locations, that allow campfires and are gentle on the environment, are what you are looking for, The Greener Camping Club is for you!
We’ve put ‘green’ at the forefront of camping and created The Greener Camping Club to fill the void for a members-only camping organisation committed to sustainable, responsible, eco-friendly camping.
Wytch Wood Campsite is privately owned and managed, and provides some of the most environmentally friendly, low-impact recreational camping experiences.
⇒ A secluded and relaxed campsite with a choice of exceptional camping and glamping pitches.
⇒ An annual membership fee of just £12 (the membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December – membership automatically extends to the 31st December of the following year if you join on or after 1st September of the preceding year). Meaning you can book any time we are open.
⇒ Our ’Trees for Life’ scheme, whereby a tree is planted for every customer who stays. In this small way, we hope that the trees go some way to offsetting some of the inevitable environmental impact of even the greenest of holidays.
⇒ Campsites where queues for the loo are a thing of the past. We have a strict quota system of loos/showers to pitches for the campsite, so you’ll never be caught short again.
⇒ The showers contain bio soaps and shampoos.
⇒ Comprehensive recycling facilities.
⇒ A paper-free, digital membership enrolment process.
Welcome to our new tree garden – this new plantation was created by our guests!
When we sign you up for your Greener Camping Club Membership, we receive a young tree to plant in the winter.
There are over 300 trees in this area – a mix of native species, including: Silver Birch, Scots Pine, Hazel, Mountain Ash, Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Hornbeam, Oak and Crab Apple. In future, this area will get more beautiful and create a whole new area of woodland, giving cover and food to small birds.
We want to thank our guests for making this possible and we hope to welcome them back for many years to come so they can see their trees grow and flourish.

We were lucky enough to get a last minute booking over the August bank holiday in the skyview bell tent. 4 of us including 2 children. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and both the bell tent and entire site were amazing. I've never been able to go to sleep watching the stars above or wake up to the trees and blue skies overhead. There was ample board games and outdoor games to keep the children (and us adults) entertained. We all adored watching the bats of an evening too. The showers were powerful and clean. Loved having access to the beautifully scented shower products, that was a treat in itself! The compost loos were also no problem at all. We enjoyed marshmallows over the camp fire and walks into the forest and around the local countryside. The honesty shop was just great and we enjoyed having access to some chilled local cider and the kids loved having an ice cream each day. The coffee truck with morning pastries was also a real treat. The lady in charge of the site was very friendly and helpful as were others we met in passing who were running some kids activities etc. we are so blessed to have this place just down the road from us. We will most definitely be back. Thank you for the most wonderful stay.Posted on ella burke10 September 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a lovely 2 nights camping here, they have everything you could need in a beautiful setting. Will returnPosted on Rachel Gildea18 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Spent a magical three days at Wytch Wood Camping on the SkyView Glamping pitch which made the camping experience with two small children very easy and enjoyable. Nestled in a peaceful and beautiful woodland with a stream running through it, the site is secluded and the pitches feel private and well spaced out. There’s also a wonderful communal space with games for kids and a bar, honesty shop and delicious pizzas available. It’s a 30 min drive to the Jurassic coastline too. We loved our stay, thank you to Elise and the team for making us feel so welcome. We can’t wait to come back next season!Posted on Michael Osborne18 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Stayed here for 1 night with my family of 5. Lovely woodland pitch, well equipped with fire pit, table/chairs and chemical toilet. Communal facilities (washing up station, showers and cafe) were great + communal areas with sports equipment and games were added bonus. Perfect blend of woodland 'wild camping' feel but with sufficient facilities to make everything more practicalPosted on Grace G7 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Camping with a touch of magic! From the unique individual pitches to the natural toiletries in the shower, this campsite has it all. Fresh coffee in the morning followed by a walk in the surrounding enchanted woodland. Wood fired pizzas and drinks at the bar in the evening with games to entertain the kids, there really is something for everyone! Elise thank you so much for accommodating us all and for responding to all my annoying emails prior to booking. We will definitely return.Posted on Charley Jarvis6 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our family of 3 spent 5 days at Wytch Wood and had a truly magical time. The location is beautiful, Elise and the staff are super friendly and accommodating, the honesty shop, pizza and bar were amazing additions and feel like such a treat for a campsite. Our tent flooded after a heavy downpour on our third day, and the team at Wytchwood went above and beyond to help us by providing tarps and reinforcements for our pitch. Despite the slightly soggy tent, the whole 5 days were amazing and we'll definitely be back!Posted on Harry Penman5 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We stayed in the Birdsong glamping pod at Wytch Wood Camping and absolutely loved it. The whole site is really peaceful and beautifully laid out, with loads of space between pitches so you never feel on top of anyone else. The facilities were spot on, having your own toilet on the pitch was great, and the fire pit barbecues are brilliant for a proper campfire bbq. The shop, bar and and coffee truck in the morning were great also. Everything’s been thought through but it still feels simple and natural. A lovely, chilled-out spot in the woods with a few nice touches of comfort, I’d definitely recommend Wytch Wood.Posted on Karl Bobel4 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have just come back from a short stay and wished we could stop for longer. It is such a peaceful calm site with everything you need. The hosts and everyone that worked there were really welcoming, helpful and accomodating. The addition of a bar and pizzas on site were a really good touch as well as the little shop for the basics you may have forgotten. We stayed in the waters meet pitch and it was very peaceful and it was nice to just sit by the fire listening to the owls and watching the bats fly about. The addition of the firepit and BBQ frame were a nice touch that I particularly enjoyed. 10/10 campsite and we will be returning for longer next time.Posted on Claymore Richardson31 July 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The most lovely campsite. We had a fantastic time, set in a beautiful secluded valley, this peaceful campsite captured our hearts. Loved the whole experience, from the meet and greet to homemade pizza, and a lovely friendly communal area. Thank you
