Your Eco-Friendly Camping Retreat in Somerset
With the rolling hills, woodland and wildflower meadows, if you’re looking for an active family getaway, a relaxing short break or the perfect base to explore the delights of Somerset, Wytch Wood Camping really is the ideal destination for your next camping break. The beautiful Wytch Wood Campsite covers around five acres, the woods around 30 acres, all situated within a private 280-acre farm.
Choose from 16 beautiful and peaceful eco camping pitches (inc. 5 for campervans) and 2 glamping bell tents, nestled in ancient woodland and wildflower meadows.
We operate as a no dog site, other than support dogs. We know that’s a downer for some people, but it just doesn’t work in Wytch Wood’s peaceful setting in farmland and woods.
We operate as a Greener Camping Club members-only campsite. You’ll never feel crowded, and our no-music or loud noise policies mean you can enjoy the peace
Book directly with us for the best rate. We are open from May to September and keep our pricing the same throughout the year.
Experience the wonder of a peaceful camping and glamping holiday with just 15 spacious camping pitches (suitable for small campervans and tents), 3 smaller pitches, and 2 glorious glamping pitches – all nestled in the ancient woodland and wildflower meadows on our working family farm.
There’s loads to explore nearby, including the beautiful beaches at Lyme Regis and Charmouth, which are just a 30-minute drive away and popular with rock-poolers and fossil hunters. The nearby National Trust’s Coney’s Castle boasts stunning woodland views and walks. Closer to home, we have Wayford Woods and Bincombe Beeches Nature Reserve, where you can take in the stunning views across Crewkerne.
There are also lots of events happening on-site, and our friendly team will be more than happy to guide you to the most appropriate activities for your group. They also have a passion for the local area and have a wealth of knowledge, and are always on hand to point you in the right direction.
Wytch Wood Camping & Glamping is a silver award-winner in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 ‘Ethical, Sustainable and Responsible Tourism’ category and the 2023 ‘Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year’ in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism awards. These prestigious awards are fiercely contested and awarded on a strict set of judging criteria.
We put ‘green’ at the forefront of your camping and glamping experience and have created a campsite committed to enabling sustainable, responsible, and eco-friendly camping. Book safe in the knowledge that you will be taking one of the most low impact and sustainable options available for your next UK camping break.
Wytch Wood Camping & Glamping is open from May to September inclusive; we look forward to welcoming you.
Each pitch has its own private fire pit, seating, and a composting loo discreetly positioned – most pitches are ensuite. You can also enjoy the 3 clear-roofed hot showers complete with luxurious waterfall shower heads, and wash up in comfort with hot water at the large communal wash station.
We supply Faith in Nature shower products for you to use while you’re here, as well as Green Bear bio-washing up liquid and hand soaps. The communal barn area provides electric sockets, a fridge-freezer and somewhere comfy to sit in the dry or shade, along with a selection of board games, book swap and outdoor toys and games.
Pitches are nestled into the ancient woodland, and guests are welcome to explore woodland trails or further afield by using the connecting local footpaths. A hugely diverse ecosystem brimming with birds, wildlife, plants and trees – there is always something new to see or hear. Find out how you are helping to protect it.

EXCELLENT Based on 132 reviews Posted on Google Clive BrownTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing quiet and peaceful site with only twelve pitches, each with their own loo. Showers and washing up areas very clean. There is an 'honesty shop' which was very useful and the host Elise was so helpful and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful break.Posted on Google Bram BijleveldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We absolutely love Wytch Wood campsite. It is our favorite campsite of the UK and we have been here 3 times yet because of that. Elise is a wonderful host, makes you feel very welcome. The site is beautiful and all the activities (yoga, workshops for children/adults, pizza night) are great. Her staff is very friendly & helpful. And last but not least…so many lovely animals in the field and their own ‘fairytale like’ forrest (sheep, horses, bats, deer, owls). Fantastic! Would really recommend staying here.Posted on Google Ella AmeyeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wauw wauw wauw. We’ll be back!Posted on Google Simon Perez-LumbrerasTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This spot is absolutely gorgeous! It's ideal for tents or smaller camper vans, and I loved how quiet and picturesque it was. Such a lovely place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Highly recommend!Posted on Google Daniel StreatTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Beautiful location and wonderful low-impact facilities. We loved the pizza, foraging for wild strawberries, paddling in the stream and lying in hammocks in the woods. One of the best campsites we’ve ever been to.Posted on Google Toby Westcott-WhiteTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This campsite is fantastic! We had a lovely pitch right by the stream and enjoyed the fire pit. The facilities were excellent with compost toilets at each pitch. Unfortunately, we missed out on the pizza, coffee shop and bar as they were closed during our visit outside of school holidays and during the working week. We highly recommend this site.Posted on Google Peter McWhinney-TrippTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As others have said, it's a lovely secluded place and well kept. Camping area surrounded by trees. Kids can run about. Facilities are great for a low impact site; hot water, shelters and pizza preordered etc.Posted on Google BISTRO CHEFTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We just had a magical family weekend at Wytch wood camping! A massive thank you to Elise and her team for a great welcoming and amazing services. We sincerely hope to return ☺️
