Wytch Wood Camping and Glamping is delighted to share that they are semi-finalists in the 2024 West Country Women in Business Awards in the Green Business category.
The West Country Women Awards shine a spotlight on women who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in areas such as business, entrepreneurship, sport, STEM, resilience, health, combatting violence against women and girls and many other categories. By highlighting their remarkable contributions, the awards seek to inspire future generations and foster a culture of inclusivity and equality.
We are now through to the finalist announcement at Powderham Castle, Exeter on the 5th of November – keep your fingers crossed!
“These awards bring together two of the areas of business I’m most passionate about- equality and recognition for women in all areas of business, and the importance of ethical and sustainable business practices. So it really is exciting to be involved.”
Elise Gwyn, Head Wytch at Wytch Wood.
The West Country Women Awards culminates in a dazzling Grand Final Gala at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth on the 28th of November.
Sponsored by NFU Mutual North Somerset & Chew Valley this award recognises tourism businesses from across the visitor economy who are truly committed to being sustainable, responsible and ethical in how they operate and interact with customers, the wider community and the environment.
This award scheme has an Outstanding Accreditation from Trustmark, ensuring a rigorous judging process. Thee 65 finalists underwent a thorough evaluation that included an in-depth review of entry forms, online presence, and, in most cases, an on-site visit.
“We have made significant additions to the campsite this year to make every guest’s experience more comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. This includes new pitches, a defined garden area, improved shower facilities, and a new glamping tent, to mention a few.”
Elise Gwyn, Head Wytch at Wytch Wood.
The 2024 Tourism Awards Ceremony will take place at Batch Country House in Lympsham, near Weston-super-Mare on 5th December from 6pm – wish us luck!

I think this is probably the best site I've camped at. Each pitch is slightly different, but most have their own toilet and all are nicely separated. Showers, washing up area and communal spot are all excellent. The staff, led by owner Elise are all fantastic. I very highly recommend to anyone and everyone. The wind in the trees, the babbling stream, wonderful walks - idyllic. Stayed at the start of the season & it was really quiet, but it’s not a massive site so I imagine it’d be nice & chilled most of the time. Echoing others views on coffee & pizza - delicious. We stayed in a camper van on pitch 6 but hired a bell tent for some extra room for our family of 4 & it was amazing to be able to gaze at the sky through the perspex roof. I loved pitch 6, but I reckon you’d say that about any pitch you stayed on here, they all look great. Wild garlic was everywhere & made a scrumptious addition to our burgers. The toilets, fire-pit & seating on each pitch felt like such a luxury, as did the wonderful toiletries in the showers…I fear this campsite has ruined all other campsites for me. Looking forward to returning when the kids can have a go at some axe throwing. Thank you Elise & team for a lovely stay. The setting is stunning, with a great mix of woodland and sunny grass pitches to choose from. We especially enjoyed the excellent coffee, fresh stone-baked pizza, and warm showers. We’ll definitely be coming back—and recommending it to friends! Nicely located within easy reach of supermarket for supplies and 30 ish mins to the Jurassic coast for a beach day. Will definitely be back Helen Noakes12 April 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A wonderful stay in our Campervan. This is a gem of a campsite set in woodland - the only sounds you will hear are birdsong and sheep grazing in the fields. Facilities were excellent and well thought out for campers. Highly recommend this place. Suzie Eastment1 September 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. An amazing camp site, we loved our stay here. Our pitch was huge, partly under trees so was great to have some shade as well as sun. The pitch came with a table and chairs, firepit and composting toilet. The showers were closed by too. The pizzas on pizza night were delicious, would highly recommend. We loved the honesty tab that you start on arrival and pay on leaving. Would definitely recommend a trip here😍 Caroline Lisle1 September 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a lovely week at Wytch Wood...one of the most beautiful places we've camped. We camped on the edge of ancient woodland under an oak tree. The team there are friendly and helpful and make the best morning coffee you'll ever have at a campsite! It's a place to relax and enjoy just being in the natural world. Will definitely return. We had an amazing weekend at Wytch Wood in June, complete with luxury add-ons (delicious stone-baked pizzas, fresh coffees and warm croissants) and incredible location, including stream and woodlands on site, offering hours of adventures for a group with young children. Each pitch is unique and nicely spaced. Plenty of spots to hang hammocks, play games and enjoy being outside. Beautifully landscaped communal facilities. Loads of games on site. All of the touches so well thought through. We got lucky with the weather, and enjoyed some lovely evenings listening to owls and watching bats flit about. We hope to be back next year. Clean showers and private toilet. Beautiful area with lots to do. Recommended.
