Jo will also be helping us to create some growing willow structures around the site and for you to discover in the Woods.
Two workshops are scheduled so far, though we may add more dates if there is enough demand:
- Friday 14th June – Flying Owl or Leaping Hare Willow Workshop
- Monday 2nd September – Pig or Chicken Willow Workshop
Flying Owl or Leaping Hare Willow Workshop | Friday 14th June
What is a Willow Workshop?
During a workshop, you will make your very own willow sculpture with local Willow and metal sculptor, Jo Sadler at Wytch Wood. On each date, you will have the choice of two animal designs to create – a Hare or Owl on the first date, and a Pig or Chicken on the second.
The workshop is a small group of up to just 8 people, so you’ll get plenty of dedicated tuition with Jo. Taking place in the barn, or outside weather permitting you will be provided with all the materials you need to complete your design.
Starting with a basic frame, you will learn the techniques to weave and sculpt your creature. Tuition goes on throughout the day, with a break for a tasty lunch, cooked up by the Wytch Wood team onsite. At the end of the day, you’ll take home your creation with tips on how to perfect, maintain and protect it for years to come.
Tickets are £90 and include:
- Full day of tuition with Jo Sadler
- All materials need to make your willow sculpture
- Hot drinks and snacks throughout the day
- Homemade veggie lunch prepared by the Wytch Wood team
- Your willow sculpture to take home at the end of the day!
Who can join?
These events are open to all – you do not need to be a guest at Wytch Wood, although we’d love you to stay. You can choose & book a pitch here »
The sessions are aimed at adults and you must be over 16. There will be some standing, but tables and seating will be provided, you just need to wear comfy clothes and shoes and be ready to get stuck in. This makes a great gift or couples’ activity as you can each make a different design – just make sure you’ve got room in the car to take your artwork home!
