Green tips for traveling to your holiday at Wytch Wood
One of the biggest environmental impacts of any holiday is the travel. You’ve already made a greener choice by not flying, and choosing a Greener Camping Club site – hooray!
- Consider using public transport – Because of where Wytch Wood is located in Somerset, it may not be practical to travel on public transport, but with some planning it is definitely possible!
- Wytch Wood is only 4-miles from Crewkerne station on the Exeter – London Waterloo line, so it is possible. With some warning we might be able to pick you up, or you can book a taxi from Crewkerne, which should cost under £10.
For most people, travelling by car is the only real option so if you do need to drive, please bring as few cars as possible. If there are a few people in your group, try to keep to as few vehicles as possible, or maybe some of your group could travel by train for you to collect from the station?
- Reduce travel time – we love welcoming guests from all over the country and beyond – but the truth is, you don’t have to spend hours in the car or sitting in jams on the motorway to feel like you’re in another world.
Maybe it’s your first camping trip in a while, or the first one outside your garden for the kids – so take the pressure off and stay nearer home! Wytch Wood is a magical place and it’s always a joy when we get visitors from our local area.
- And finally – keep your travel to a minimum once you are here. Relax! Get set up and enjoy the all the the beautiful Somerset countryside has to offer.
We have a little shop and cafe for some essentials, as well as on-site food nights and activities. We’ve also created walking routes around the woods and farm as well as activities to help you get to know the site better; like our bird, tree and flower spotting worksheets.
