GREENER CAMPING

GREENER CAMPING AND YOUR HOLIDAY

Wytch Wood Camping & Glamping in Somerset is privately owned and managed and is proud to provide some of the most environmentally friendly, low-impact, recreational camping experiences.

OUR IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT

Wytch Wood Campsite aims to have as little impact on the environment as possible.

You’ll be drinking cool, clear spring water (safely filtered, of course) from one of the uppermost tributaries of the River Axe. Eight compost loos are positioned around the site, and guests can enjoy the use of the three hot showers and the washing-up stations.

Bio washing up liquid, soaps, and shampoos will be supplied along with comprehensive recycling facilities.

A MORE SUSTAINABLE APPROACH TO CAMPING

When small, quiet campsites in great locations, that allow campfires and are gentle on the environment are what you are looking for, The Greener Camping Club is for you!

We’ve put ‘green’ at the forefront of camping and created The Greener Camping Club to fill the void for a members-only camping organisation committed to sustainable, responsible, eco-friendly camping.

Wytch Wood Camp Site is privately owned and managed, and provides some of the most environmentally friendly, low impact recreational camping experiences.

WHY CHOOSE WYTCH WOOD FOR YOUR NEXT CAMPING HOLIDAY

  • A secluded and relaxed campsite with a choice of exceptional camping and glamping pitches.
  • An annual membership fee of just £12 (the membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December – membership automatically extends to the 31st December of the following year if you join on or after 1st September of the preceding year). Meaning you can book any time we are open.
  • Our ’Trees for Life’ scheme, whereby a tree is planted for every customer who stays. In this small way, we hope that the trees go some way to offsetting some of the inevitable environmental impact of even the greenest of holidays.
  • Campsites where queues for the loo are a thing of the past. We have a strict quota system of loos/showers to pitches for the campsite, so you’ll never be caught short again.
  • The showers contain bio soaps and shampoos.
  • Comprehensive recycling facilities.
  • A paper-free, digital membership enrolment process.

GREENER CAMPING CLUB TREE GARDEN

Welcome to our new tree garden – this new plantation was created by our guests!

When we sign you up for your Greener Camping Club Membership, we receive a young tree to plant in the winter.

There are over 300 trees in this area – a mix of native species, including: Silver Birch, Scots Pine, Hazel, Mountain Ash, Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Hornbeam, Oak and Crab Apple. In future, this area will get more beautiful and create a whole new area of woodland giving cover and food to small birds.

We want to thank our guests for making this possible and we hope to welcome them back for many years to come so they can see their trees grow and flourish.

Amazing quiet and peaceful site with only twelve pitches, each with their own loo. Showers and washing up areas very clean. There is an 'honesty shop' which was very useful and the host Elise was so helpful and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful break.

We absolutely love Wytch Wood campsite. It is our favorite campsite of the UK and we have been here 3 times yet because of that. Elise is a wonderful host, makes you feel very welcome. The site is beautiful and all the activities (yoga, workshops for children/adults, pizza night) are great. Her staff is very friendly & helpful. And last but not least…so many lovely animals in the field and their own ‘fairytale like’ forrest (sheep, horses, bats, deer, owls). Fantastic! Would really recommend staying here.

Wauw wauw wauw. We’ll be back!

This spot is absolutely gorgeous! It's ideal for tents or smaller camper vans, and I loved how quiet and picturesque it was. Such a lovely place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Highly recommend!

Beautiful location and wonderful low-impact facilities. We loved the pizza, foraging for wild strawberries, paddling in the stream and lying in hammocks in the woods. One of the best campsites we’ve ever been to.

This campsite is fantastic! We had a lovely pitch right by the stream and enjoyed the fire pit. The facilities were excellent with compost toilets at each pitch. Unfortunately, we missed out on the pizza, coffee shop and bar as they were closed during our visit outside of school holidays and during the working week. We highly recommend this site.

As others have said, it's a lovely secluded place and well kept. Camping area surrounded by trees. Kids can run about. Facilities are great for a low impact site; hot water, shelters and pizza preordered etc.
