Wytch Wood Camping and Glamping is delighted to share that they are semi-finalists in the 2024 West Country Women in Business Awards in the Green Business category.
The West Country Women Awards shine a spotlight on women who have demonstrated excellence and innovation in areas such as business, entrepreneurship, sport, STEM, resilience, health, combatting violence against women and girls and many other categories. By highlighting their remarkable contributions, the awards seek to inspire future generations and foster a culture of inclusivity and equality.
We are now through to the finalist announcement at Powderham Castle, Exeter on the 5th of November – keep your fingers crossed!

“These awards bring together two of the areas of business I’m most passionate about- equality and recognition for women in all areas of business, and the importance of ethical and sustainable business practices. So it really is exciting to be involved.”
Elise Gwyn, Head Wytch at Wytch Wood.
The West Country Women Awards culminates in a dazzling Grand Final Gala at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth on the 28th of November.
Sponsored by NFU Mutual North Somerset & Chew Valley this award recognises tourism businesses from across the visitor economy who are truly committed to being sustainable, responsible and ethical in how they operate and interact with customers, the wider community and the environment.
This award scheme has an Outstanding Accreditation from Trustmark, ensuring a rigorous judging process. Thee 65 finalists underwent a thorough evaluation that included an in-depth review of entry forms, online presence, and, in most cases, an on-site visit.

“We have made significant additions to the campsite this year to make every guest’s experience more comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. This includes new pitches, a defined garden area, improved shower facilities, and a new glamping tent, to mention a few.”
Elise Gwyn, Head Wytch at Wytch Wood.
The 2024 Tourism Awards Ceremony will take place at Batch Country House in Lympsham, near Weston-super-Mare on 5th December from 6pm – wish us luck!
EXCELLENT Based on 127 reviews Posted on Google Daniel StreatTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Beautiful location and wonderful low-impact facilities. We loved the pizza, foraging for wild strawberries, paddling in the stream and lying in hammocks in the woods. One of the best campsites we’ve ever been to.Posted on Google Toby Westcott-WhiteTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This campsite is fantastic! We had a lovely pitch right by the stream and enjoyed the fire pit. The facilities were excellent with compost toilets at each pitch. Unfortunately, we missed out on the pizza, coffee shop and bar as they were closed during our visit outside of school holidays and during the working week. We highly recommend this site.Posted on Google Peter McWhinney-TrippTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As others have said, it's a lovely secluded place and well kept. Camping area surrounded by trees. Kids can run about. Facilities are great for a low impact site; hot water, shelters and pizza preordered etc.Posted on Google BISTRO CHEFTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We just had a magical family weekend at Wytch wood camping! A massive thank you to Elise and her team for a great welcoming and amazing services. We sincerely hope to return ☺️Posted on Google Sarah BlakeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A really wonderful camping experience in every way. The campsite is quiet and peaceful, and the pitches are a good size and laid out so that it never feels crowded. Each pitch has its own (very clean) compost loo. The washing up area and showers were kept very clean, and were well stocked with eco products. The honesty shop sells useful items and there are books to borrow and board games to play in the indoor communal seating area. There is a firepit and seating plus a table at each pitch. Elise, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. The road to the campsite is a bit bumpy, but nothing that should put anyone off from staying at this hidden gem of a campsite.Posted on Google Oli CTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Pizza was also amazing, thank you 😋Posted on Google Duncan GraingerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Such a beautiful place and fantastic owner. We are already looking forward to going back next year! The site is brilliantly maintained and the facilities are top notch.Posted on Google Jenny CoxTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were lucky enough to get a last minute booking over the August bank holiday in the skyview bell tent. 4 of us including 2 children. We were blessed with gorgeous weather and both the bell tent and entire site were amazing. I've never been able to go to sleep watching the stars above or wake up to the trees and blue skies overhead. There was ample board games and outdoor games to keep the children (and us adults) entertained. We all adored watching the bats of an evening too. The showers were powerful and clean. Loved having access to the beautifully scented shower products, that was a treat in itself! The compost loos were also no problem at all. We enjoyed marshmallows over the camp fire and walks into the forest and around the local countryside. The honesty shop was just great and we enjoyed having access to some chilled local cider and the kids loved having an ice cream each day. The coffee truck with morning pastries was also a real treat. The lady in charge of the site was very friendly and helpful as were others we met in passing who were running some kids activities etc. we are so blessed to have this place just down the road from us. We will most definitely be back. Thank you for the most wonderful stay.Posted on Google ella burkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
